The weekly AI update.
AI news is a firehose, and honestly most of it does not matter to your actual week. So this page is the filter: five things that changed, what each one actually means in plain language, and one small step to try today. It updates every week, and the edition date above tells you how fresh this one is.

Claude Cowork and chat are now one app, and it can make Docs and Slides
So this is the biggest one for people who use Claude for actual work. On Tuesday Anthropic announced that Cowork, which was the separate desktop app for bigger tasks, is merging into regular Claude, so you don't have to decide where a task belongs anymore, you just ask in a normal conversation and Claude figures out what it needs. And at the same time they added Claude Docs and Claude Slides, so you can ask for a report or a presentation and it drafts the whole thing, you edit it right there, and you can download it as PowerPoint or PDF. It's rolling out to Pro and Max plans first over the next few weeks, and Docs and Slides are in beta on paid plans.
ChatGPT now lives inside Microsoft Word, even on the free plan
This came out yesterday and it's the one I'd tell my mom about. There's now an official ChatGPT add in for Word, so you get a sidebar right inside your document where you can draft from a few notes, summarize the whole thing, rewrite a paragraph you highlighted, or fix the headings and formatting. It's the same add in that already worked in Excel and PowerPoint, and the part that matters is it's available on every ChatGPT plan, including Free, you just use up your normal message limits.
Siri got its real AI upgrade, and it's on your iPhone now
iOS 27 came out on Monday and the headline is the new Siri, which is a totally rebuilt version with its own app. It understands what's on your screen, it can search across your messages, emails, and photos, and it can actually do things inside apps instead of just setting timers. So you can say something like find the address my sister texted me last week and it goes and gets it. Two things to know: it's a beta, so you have to opt in and there may be a waitlist, and it's English only until October. It runs on iPhones back to the iPhone 11, though the AI features want a newer phone.
Claude for Small Business added 43 ready made workflows and 27 new tool connections
Okay so this one is for anyone with a freelance business or a shop. Claude for Small Business is the plugin that puts Claude inside the tools you already run on, and this week it grew to 43 workflows and 27 new integrations, including Shopify, TikTok, Square, Stripe, Zoom, Xero, Gusto, and Zapier. The new workflows go past bookkeeping into growing the business, so answering inbound leads, writing proposals from a voice memo, drafting next week's posts in your voice, and a Monday morning brief with your cash, sales, and overdue invoices on one page. Everything starts in approval mode, so it drafts and waits for your OK. It's on every paid Claude plan.
Gemini has a real Windows app now, one shortcut from anywhere
This is a small one but if you're on a PC it changes how often you'll actually use Gemini. Google released a proper Windows app last week, and the trick is Alt plus Space brings it up instantly on top of whatever you're doing, so you can ask a quick question, draft a message, or brainstorm without switching windows. Inside the app you get everything the web version has, like connecting Gmail and Drive to summarize documents, making images with Nano Banana, and the deeper research mode. It's free and works on Windows 10 or later.
And that is the week, five changes, five small experiments, and you are more current than most people who read AI news all day.
