Set up Claude to work while you sleep.
Okay so the best AI tasks are the ones that do not need you watching. You hand Claude something before bed, and the work is just sitting there in the morning like elves came in the night, except the elves are Claude and the shoes are your Downloads folder.
So here are the three tasks from the video, with the exact prompts, plus a bonus fourth that most people never set up. And because trust matters more than hype, there is a section at the end about what Claude actually can and cannot do overnight.

The messy folder
Everyone has one. It is usually called Downloads. With the Claude desktop app and file access turned on, paste this before you close the laptop:
Sort my Downloads into folders by type. Rename the screenshots to what they show.
That second sentence is the real superpower, because "Screenshot 2026 08 03 at 9.14.12 PM" becomes "bank statement July" and suddenly you can actually find things. One note: this task touches your files, so your computer needs to be awake with the desktop app open while it runs. So start it, go brush your teeth, and check it in the morning.
Task 2The research you keep putting off
Research is the perfect overnight task because Claude does not get bored, does not open 40 tabs and forget why, and puts everything in a table. Swap in whatever question you have been circling for weeks:
Research the 5 cheapest ways to start selling online. Put prices and links in a table.
You wake up to a comparison table instead of a vague plan to "look into it this weekend." The pattern works for anything: cheapest phone plans, best free website builders, what similar products charge. Ask for prices and links in a table, always.
Task 3Schedule it forever
Doing a task once is nice, but never having to think about it again is the goal. Scheduled tasks run at a set time whether you remember or not, so paste this:
Every night at 10pm, tidy my Downloads folder and draft tomorrow's to do list.
Now the folder never gets messy again, and every morning starts with a to do list you did not have to write. The trick with all of these is picking tasks that do not need you watching. If a task needs your judgment halfway through, it is a daytime task.
Bonus · Task 4The weekly report
This is the one almost nobody sets up, and it is the one that makes you feel like you have a tiny employee. Once a week, Claude writes up what actually happened, which is how you notice progress instead of just feeling busy:
Every Sunday at 6pm, write my weekly report: what I finished this week, what money came in or went out, what stalled, and the three things that matter most next week. Keep it under 200 words.
Two hundred words, once a week, and you always know where you stand. If you track anything toward a goal, this report is where you will actually see it move.
What Claude can and cannot do overnight
To be honest with you, Nova would rather you set this up once and trust it than get burned by a promise the tool cannot keep, so here is the real list.
Claude can, without you watching
- Run scheduled tasks at the times you set, every time, without being reminded
- Research and write: comparisons, drafts, summaries, plans, all waiting for you in the morning
- Organize and rename files it has access to, through the desktop app
- Remember everything it did, so you can ask "what did you change?" over breakfast
Claude cannot, and should not
- Send emails, post anywhere, or spend money without your approval. That is a feature, not a limit. You want the final say.
- Work on a computer that is off or asleep. File tasks need the desktop app open and the machine awake. Research and writing tasks are more forgiving.
- Log into accounts you have not connected. No connection, no access, which is exactly how it should be.
- Be perfect. Skim its overnight work in the morning the way you would skim a new assistant's work. It earns trust fast, but let it earn it.
So start with task 1 tonight, it takes one pasted sentence, and tomorrow morning you are going to get why people talk about this stuff the way they do.
